Oversight Systems Sponsors Knowledge Congress Teleconference on New COSO Guidance on Monitoring
CEO Patrick Taylor Joins Panel of Regulatory Experts and Thought Leaders to Help Attendees Understand and Apply the New Monitoring Guidelines
ATLANTA (September 16, 2007) – Oversight Systems, the leading provider of automated continuous transaction monitoring software, today announced it is pleased to sponsor the Knowledge Congress’ live Web-based teleconference on the new COSO guidance on Monitoring Internal Control Systems. The teleconference will be broadcast Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2008 from 1 to 3 pm EDT.
The Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission (COSO) has developed a new business guidance that more fully develops the monitoring component of COSO’s Internal Control - Integrated Framework to assist companies in ensuring the effectiveness of their financial, operational, and compliance-related internal controls. The Knowledge Congress has assembled a panel of distinguished experts from well-known accounting and auditing firms and industry leaders to provide finance and internal controls professionals with an overview of the substantial features of the new guidance. The panelists are scheduled to speak in a two-hour webinar.
Oversight Systems CEO Patrick Taylor joins the distinguished panel of speakers, which includes Trent Gazzaway, Managing Partner of Corporate Governance for Grant Thornton, LLP. Gazzaway was appointed by the COSO board to lead a project to develop this guidance regarding the effective monitoring of internal controls in accordance with COSO’s Internal Control - Integrated Framework. Other panelists include David Richards, President of The Institute of Internal Auditors, and Deborah Lambert, co-founder and Managing Partner of Johnson Lambert & Co. Teleconference attendees will hear from each of the panelists regarding various considerations and aspects of the new guidance, and then will have the opportunity to interact directly with the panel during an open question and answer session.
“According to the guidance, the persuasiveness of monitoring results is driven by the suitability and sufficiency of the information – do you have enough information about the effectiveness of the control, and is it the right information,” Taylor said. “Further, the guidance advises organizations to use ongoing monitoring of real-time direct information for the areas of biggest risk.”
Taylor will advise attendees on considerations and cost factors for implementing efficient and effective continuous monitoring as advised in the new guidelines. For more information about the teleconference, or to register, visit http://www.knowledgecongress.org/event_2008_InternalControl.html.
