Efficient Resolution of Issues
Oversight’s Workbench supports the efficient evaluation and remediation of exceptions detected by CoRE. Workbench displays plain language descriptions of these potential problems, allowing you to drill down into the transactional data to uncover and resolve every issue, from duplicate vendor information and invoices to likely fraud or misuse of funds. Workbench includes automated workflow features that facilitate assignment of exceptions to the appropriate resources for efficient investigation and resolution; a Risk Profiler for creating and refining re-usable ad hoc queries that focus investigation and facilitate sophisticated data review ; and a permanent Investigative Log that automatically records all related activities, remediation and notes in a permanent journal.
Automated Resolution Workflow
With Workbench, exceptions are managed through powerful resolution workflow features that facilitates validation and remediation. A defined process for managing exception handling allows for easy resolution, and offers configurable assignment and resolution options. Automated workflow features make it easy to customize and enforce mandatory process flows. Exceptions can be automatically assigned to specific users and roles, and automated alerts inform management of exception status and backlogs.
Secure, Permanent Journaling of Results
Workbench automatically records and preserves resolution activity and notes in a permanent Investigative Log. This log documents your review and remediation of controls-effectiveness and records all activity to “prove” exceptions were resolved. All exception-related actions, analyses and results are fully documented, and corrections are confirmed against the source applications. The system automatically logs transactions, and reports on exceptions by type of error, person(s) handling, and resolution method. This objective evidence of due diligence can be used to prove compliance, and directly impacts the level of reliance placed by your auditor.
Data Insight for Decision Support
Forensic analysis is iterative. The integrated Risk Profiler in Workbench can be used to create, save, refine, and reuse helpful ad hoc queries, or "profiles” that the analyst uses to sift through data, looking for interesting patterns, which can be further refined and combined with other interesting patterns, and so on, gaining elusive data insight for good decision-making. These profiles leverage:
- Knowledge about the business data (transactions and master data);
- the observations reached by CoRE using its sophisticated analytic techniques;
- and linkages between objects specified in the Oversight data model.
Besides simply returning a list of items that match the query, Workbench automatically provides a cross-tabbed summary view of data. Analysts can see exceptions related to individual indicators, or groups of indicators, and can easily toggle between individual and summary views, for maximum insight.
The Oversight state model records a single instance of each exception, eliminating redundancy and ensuring that each issue is resolved once and only once. Exceptions are described in plain language, and linked with related exceptions and source data. Workbench provides one-stop data insight and side-by-side data displays to facilitate human decision making, and enables companies to identify unusual events early, preventing bad transactions before they are completed.
